On the day of my diagnosis my world fell apart, all i looked forward to in retirement suddenly seemed like it would never happen. Major surgery and follow up treatment gave me a clear diagnosis but, gradually, the treatment showed what life was going to be like, unable to eat solid food, my appearance and body a stranger to me. I went lower and lower in self esteem.
But thankfully i came through. A large part of this being down to my excellent professional at St Johns, listening to me, no judgement ,just a good understanding of an individual's needs to deal with a new way of life and to evaluate good points that are still there in your life. Our meetings finally brought me to actually think more about the positives and neutralise some of the negatives.
My life can never go back, but with the help of St Johns i can see a more positive future. Thank you all.
