"Long-covid symptom management team Nottingham"

After 8 months of quite intensive tests to rule out other conditions, I was referred to the Nottinghamshire long-COVID symptom management team. The relief on entering the service was profound. I cried with relief after the first session online due to the absolute understanding provided by the service. The little videos they showed summed up how long-covid had felt for the previous 3 years, where there appeared to be no answers.

I would have been more reassured if my initial GP appointments had had more knowledge of the symptom management team, as they seemed reluctant to refer me and lacked knowledge around the subject.

I cannot stress enough how much people need this service, and I am shocked that services may be closing. I had to leave my employment as my employer did not have any awareness of this condition and did not have the patience while I sent one sick note after another. This exacerbated my underlying mental health condition. I am pleased to report that the long-covid team are aware of the risks to mental health and supported my referral back to the Local Mental Health Team, where I am accessing an improved mental health pathway.

Thank you for this most essential service, and please do not forget that there are many, many people yet to receive this service who are in need. I for one am willing to promote the service so that awareness is raised.
