Every month I attend the stadium eye department with a friend for retinal injection. Every time I watch in despair the paperwork trail failing.
Checking in the papers are put to the rear of the pile, the nurse comes along and takes paper from the front. Next patient arrives and paper put in front, then nurse arrives and takes paper from the front. Everyone has a different process and today 6 who arrived after us were seen before us. One poor patient before us was still sat waiting 2 hours later.
Every month the same, a simple process completely and incompetently managed at each stage in the process as you follow your paperwork through the stages around the hospital. I tear my hair out.
Today a new step was added…. Rather than the first nurse putting a marker dot above the eye…. A new separate person and intervention had a pen queue. I wonder why the NHS is broke with such inefficiency?
