"The lack of communication has been absolutely appalling"

About: Royal Alexandra Hospital / Trauma & orthopaedics (wards 21-23)

(as a relative),

My dad was recently admitted to RAH  for an injury to his knee. He was told he would be going for surgery on admittance. The next day he was told he was going to be sent for an MRI scan before they made any decision about surgery. He was told the MRI would be done on the Friday, & was then told it would be done on the Monday.

On the Monday he was told it would happen sometime that week. We asked again on the Tuesday and were told it would be chased as it had been a long time. We were then told he was on the list for the MRI. However, we’ve now been told the request has only just been vetted and that my dad has only now been added to the list for an MRI.

He was taken off several medications without any discussion or explanation, and only when questioned by us, were the reasons for this communicated.
The lack of communication has been absolutely appalling, we have had to ask every day, and we are no further forward.
