"Breast Cancer Care"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Breast Services Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Cancer Services (Medical Oncology)

(as the patient),

After my diagnosis, the care and consideration I have been given in the Breast Care Unit at ARI have been absolutely amazing. Everyone, from the receptionist to the nurses and my surgeon, the anaesthetist, theatre nurses and all the people who did the scans and MRI were so kind, reassuring and incredibly professional. They kept me informed every step of the way and treated me with compassion and honesty. My surgery went very well and my recovery was quick with incredibly neat scarring.  I was also given really good advice on aftercare too - especially using cream twice a day to moisturise them!πŸ₯°

I’m now starting chemotherapy treatment and again everyone has been so kind and helpful - answering my questions about hair loss and the use of the cold cap.  Another patient reassured me that the first 10 minutes are hard then it settles down. 🀞🏻🀞🏻

Finally, a big thank you to ANCHOR who have provided lovely care boxes with treats including body lotion, lip balm, deodorant, tea and biscuits and a cute little pillow to support my breast and scars after surgery. It was all very welcome and brought a smile to my face.😊
