I was referred to GGC Long Covid Service by my GP. I contracted Covid in 2023, I was very unwell & was sent to MAU by my GP to ensure I didn’t have any other concerns, due to my breathing & chest pains. I was diagnosed by them of having Long Covid.
I started with the Long Covid service October 2024. The first part was a weekly group remote session via zoom, ran by healthcare professionals, there was lots of helpful information & support given. I found these sessions really good. I was then referred to a professional specific to my needs. I started these sessions in Spring 2025 after an initial zoom assessment.
Diane, my Occupational Therapist was fantastic, she was very supportive, offered me lots of help, monitored my fatigue diaries & gave good feedback on them. She also referred me to have a POTS test, as I was symptomatic, Lily who did the test was thorough & ruled out POTS, but advised me to seek GP support as she thought my medication may have been the issue. (It’s not, I’ve had it checked) We had regular zoom/telephone appointments & then a home visit.
Diane arranged for a perch stool for the kitchen, & a shower seat for me, as showers were very problematic with my breathing. She has also done a report to support an update to a benefit claim. I cannot thank her enough. She has been amazing.
