Had bleeding on and off for a year 8 years post menopause, mentioned it at doctors appointment about something completely different. He made appointment via 2 week fast track system. Had the ultrasound scan and a possible polyp. Then had to have a hysteroscopy because they had seen polyps. Has it turned out had polyps and fibroids samples taken and now sent off Mirena coil fitted as it has small amount of hormone which was done as a precaution.
Although the actual procedure was uncomfortable/slight pain. It was very well explained and was checked on lots of times through the whole thing.
Procedure done by Jo, who was great, very down to earth. Her very capable assistants were Clarinda, Yvonne and Penny who were all marvellous. Chatting all the way (a bid to keep us all calm) but seriously they were all amazing.
This was done at RCH Treliske and I was out within an hour, and sat in my car having a coffee.
I think I was more nervous about the thought of the procedure than how the procedure turned out to be. Uncomfortable, moderately painful, but it really was OK.
I now await the results from the samples but was assured they looked fine.
Over the counter pain relief for a day or two if needed.
"Staff were all marvellous"
