I am in my 70s and used the standard screening program, identifying blood in the bowel. I was invited to the hospital for further investigation. (The improved test kit is much better than the old one.)
The appointment was straightforward, with clear instructions and pre-op preparation medication posted to my home. (The Trust may consider a graphic leaflet to help explain the timing of diet, food intake, and medication use.) The medication's taste leaves much to be desired, but the powers that be have tried very hard to make this palatable.
Right up to the tea and toast and the walking out to the home transport, the reception and procedure were managed exceptionally well. All the staff ensured each patient was comfortable and every move was explained.
The Doctor's report, issued before discharge, is impressive and reassuring.
My repeat procedures were managed to the same high standard, and I commend all involved.
After these successful procedures, I hope to return to the regular screening program.
Many complaints are being made against the Health Service, but we should acknowledge the exceptional work a stretched workforce is doing.
Congratulations and 'Thank You'.
