"Found my mother on her bedroom floor"

About: South East Coast Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust / Emergency ambulance Worthing Hospital / Older people's healthcare

(as a relative),

I went to visit my mother -  who is in her 80s and suffering from Alzheimer's. However, is still managing to live on her own. I found her on the bedroom floor, very dazed and confused, so I rang 999.

Within 5 - 10 minutes an ambulance arrived with two young lady paramedics (Polly & Sarah). They were so amazing with my mum, doing all necessary checks, trying to put her at ease and eventually putting her in the ambulance to take her to hospital.

Whilst she is still there, she seems to be on the mend. She has a kidney infection and the spike in temperature caused her increased confusion, although she is still not sure how she ended up on the floor!

I just wanted to comment that Polly & Sarah made a traumatic incident far more manageable, and having not been through this before was so welcomed. Two amazing young ladies doing what I imagine to be a stressful job. Thank you!

Finally, a shout out to the nurses and staff at Worthing Hospital. Again, my experience of the last couple of days has left me inspired by their dedication and professionalism.
