"Birth of my first child"

About: Maternity care / Ward E Royal Jubilee Maternity services / Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)

(as the patient),

A midwife on the maternity ward E, I will never forget her name Mary. Mary helped me the first night and noticed that my daughter was turning blue at the mouth if it hadn’t been for Mary, my daughter might not have gotten the care she needed and I am forever thankful to her. Mary your an Angel and I won’t forget you ❤️ All the girls on Ward E were phenomenal at their jobs. They are so caring and kind which is wonderful when your a first time mummy and experiencing all new emotions.

My baby was taken up to HDU of the Royal maternity. The girls on that ward are so kind, caring and strong minded women and they were a blessing to my husband and I during our daughters 24hr stay in the unit. I honestly can’t thank Aimee and Hannah for their constant support and their helping hands. My husband sang your praises.

I honestly can’t thank everyone in the Royal Maternity Ward for all the help, for their caring nature and kind hearts. From the bottom of our hearts, we can’t thank you enough for everything. Yous are a blessing to all women on the wards. For the care and constant support I had after a C-section I thank you all .

Thank you thank you thank you all 🩷

Dear magpieyb48,

Thank you for taking the time to share your recent experience with the E ward at the Royal Jubilee Maternity Service.

I would like to extend my congratulations on the birth of your daughter. I recognise that the period you described was extremely distressing, particularly when she became unwell and required urgent care, necessitating her transfer to the neonatal unit.

I would like to express my appreciation for the midwives' attentiveness in identifying the signs of your daughter's deteriorating condition and their prompt decision to involve the paediatric team for further assistance. Their commitment to ongoing professional development and emergency training highlights their dedication to delivering quality care.

The midwifery team is committed to providing individualised care that is both compassionate and respectful, ensuring the needs of you and your family were met during this time. I will ensure that your comments are fed back to the midwifery team, in particular Mary, Aimee, and Hannah.

I wish you and your family the very best with your new daughter for the future.

Many thanks

Laura Stewart-Maunder
