I was transferred to the care of Dr Glackin in Altnagelvin Hospital last year when it was discovered in my local hospital in Enniskillen I was carrying MCDA twins.
From the minute I met Dr Glackin at 11 weeks pregnant I knew I was in safe hands. It was my first pregnancy and such a stressful one as my twins developed complications. Dr Glackin was so vigilant and didn’t miss a thing. He scanned me biweekly from 16 weeks until the end of my pregnancy at 33 weeks. He referred me to fetal medicine in the Royal when I started to develop complications at 20 weeks.
One twin was smaller than the other. Even though I was under the care of fetal medicine I still chose to see Dr Glackin in between as I trusted him the most. I travelled a significant distance to see him but with such a high risk pregnancy he was the only consultant that settled my anxieties. The continuity of care with Dr Glackin was brilliant and he left no stone unturned.
I delivered my twins via an emergency section at 33 weeks in the Royal and when they were weighed Dr Glackin was right all along, not to my surprise. I have two healthy baby boys that are almost 7 months old and are thriving. I truly believe they wouldn’t have done as well as they did if it wasn’t for Dr Glackin. I can’t thank him enough.
How lucky are we to have such a fabulous consultant in the Western Trust. Thank you so much Dr Glackin.
