"Excellent care from 3 Lanarkshire hospitals"

About: The Lanarkshire Beatson University Hospital Monklands / Breast Clinic University Hospital Monklands / Ear, Nose & Throat (Ward 9) University Hospital Wishaw / Medical Oncology University Hospital Wishaw / Outpatients

(as a service user),

My latest story is the great treatment I received on Sunday.  My shingles vaccine second dose was administered with care and sensitivity.

I would like to say that over the last 18 months I have needed and received excellent care from NHS Lanarkshire.

It started withe a diagnosis of breast cancer in each Breast with more aggressive signs and treatment on the left side.  Dr Morrow operated.  I then received chemotherapy at ward 11 at Monklands, eventually radiotherapy at the Beatson Lanarkshire and then injections of Herceptin at Monklands and Wishaw.  Everyone was so kind and professional.

Everything was exacerbated when I had a fall in which I broke my right leg, tibia plateau fracture.  Because I was weak I was in Monklands ward 9 for 6 weeks.  During that time I again had good treatment and was taken by porters and ambulance to various appointments.  I had good treatment from everyone and ambulance now in remission with five years of tamoxifen,  my leg has healed and I’m continuing to improve my walking.

In the last year I’ve been visiting all three Lanarkshire hospitals and have been impressed by the cleanliness and kindness shown to me.

Thank you for everything.  My only complaint (which is being addressed) is the height of the toilets in disabled facilities.
