I had mohs surgery yesterday for a bcc in-between the nose and eye .From the moment I entered the unit the staff were exceptionally kind and jolly which Immediately put myself and my husband at ease .
The staff were very efficient and the wait I the unit was minimal .Time were taken to explain everything to myself and answer any question .
Dr Yong Immediately put me at ease and was incredibly gentle ( I did not feel the local). After the first round the staff take you to a comfy separate sitting area where they make you a drink and offer you a biscuit ( they also looked after my husband) .
When it is time to close the wound they take their time to explain all the options and did not rush me into making a decision as I was very unsure which route to take . Dr Yong and the nursing staff even came up with another option which was different from original choices and not the usual option as I was completely unsure which route would be best for me .
The staff was very good at explaining post surgery instructions and what to expect and that there is always somebody you can reach if you are worried about anything post op even out of hours .I will not lie when I tell you that it was incredibly painful the evening of the mohs when the local anesthetic tapers off , and it did start bleeding again ( the post op instructions covers the bleeding so there was no panic ) .I have yet to take off the dressings but I have full faith in Dr yong and her wonderful team .
The only downside was the waiting list which I feel was more down to nhs Grampians initial appointment (even though my GP sent them excellent photos ) it was still a very long wait .
Thank you again to the very kind professional staff .
