"A very positive experience"

About: Royal Alexandra Hospital / Accident & Emergency

(as a service user),

I took unwell at work - in the middle of making a presentation I could breathe, swallow, had chest pains and tingling in both arms. Having not experienced these symptoms before I also panicked and also became quite emotional.

Given the symptoms I was seen quickly. The triage nurse in A and E put me at ease and talked me through my symptoms- it became apparent that I had suffered an anxiety/ panic attack. My heart was checked and I was also examined for a possible stroke. I was given the all clear - all staff dealt with me professionally and didn’t downplay the effects the panic attack had on me. From the reception to triage to medical assessment I have nothing but praise.

Dear runningxf37

Thank you for sharing your experience with us on Care Opinion. We’re glad to hear that despite the distressing symptoms you faced, our A&E team were able to respond quickly, provide thorough assessments, and offer reassurance throughout your visit.

It’s important to us that all patients feel heard and supported, especially when dealing with conditions like anxiety and panic attacks.

Your kind words about the professionalism and care shown by everyone from reception to medical assessment will be shared with the team, who I'm sure will be deeply touched by to hear you had such a positive experience while under their care.

Kind regards

Kevin
