I was recently admitted into ward 9 for an elective gynae surgery. I was very nervous about the operation and the recovery.
From the minute I was admitted into ward 9 the staff could not have been any more helpful and caring.
The student nurse admitting me under the supervision of deputy sister Rhonda were so professional and caring. They picked up how nervous I was and put me right at ease.
All the staff who interacted with me were friendly, kind and professional. The ward sister Mairead introduced herself and ensured my mind was at ease.
There was a lovely atmosphere in the ward and everyone appeared to work in a team.
I went to theatre and the excellence continued. The team in theatre were absolutely amazing. The anaesthetic nurse victor was just out of this world. I was so nervous but he explained everything and was there every step of the way. All the staff in theatre were so professional and attentive ensuring the best possible care was delivered. The Anaesthetist Dr Laza was two kind and attentive. I had a spinal anaesthetic which I was so apprehensive about but Dr Luza put my mind at ease by explaining everything.
My recovery was uneventful and I put this down to the excellent care I received in both theatres and ward 9 in SWAH.
My consultant was Dr Thompson who was just the ultimate professional. Her bedside manner is so gentle and professional. I can’t thank her enough for her amazing high standard care. We are truly lucky to have such an excellent hospital with such amazing teams with highly professional consultants on our door step.
