Over the last 2 months I have attended the Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy for a series of investigative tests in the Colorectal Department followed by keyhole surgery, and being an in-patient in the High Dependancy Unit and a General Ward. In addition, in preparation for the surgery, I attended a Pre-Assessment Clinic.
As someone, who has to date had no medical history and never been in hospital since I was 6, this was my first experience of in-patient care and attention by the NHS.
From the outset, I was very impressed by the communication and professionalism of all the staff - from the Consultant Surgeon to the Nurse Health Care assistants - all were first class. Everything was explained in a logical and easy-to-understand manner and I was left in doubt that my needs and care was foremost. The quality of the food was good and as far as I was concerned all the staff were constantly working like Trojans in their various roles. Fortunately, I am reasonably fit and my recovery from the operation has been good and I had no need to place extra demands on the team. That said, nothing was too much to anyone.
Overall, I have come away with an excellent impression of NHS Fife and its highly proficient and professional staff. Very many thanks to everyone for helping me through this treatment and for the speedy and timely attention I have received.
"Highly proficient and professional staff"
