I was recently transferred from PRI to Ninewells Hospital, to await an angiogram/diagnosis/treatment. My admission to Ward 1 ended up being for 7 nights…. and in summary the care I received was excellent.
The team of Nurses, Medical Consultants, Health Care Assistants and Domestics were truly remarkable in their delivery of care… professional, caring, compassionate, personable, communicative, considerate and kind would be some of the key words to describe how I felt (and still feel) re the care I received.
The team also very clearly work as a team, which was particularly positive to experience and the individualised care and consideration I received made such a huge (equally positive) difference to my hospital in-patient experience. I was, as well as remain and always will be extremely grateful and impressed by the high standard of care I received.
The Ward 1 team enabled me to feel that I was being cared for and treated by experts in the field of Cardiology and by NHS Tayside employees who were truly committed to delivering high standards of individualised care.
The largest of thank yous does not go far enough in describing what I would want to relay to the team who cared for me…. but that is what I wish to pass on here to the full team. All of their hard work, commitment, expertise, advice, warmth and understanding was hugely appreciated.
I would also want to highlight just a few names who, for me personally, were absolute stars within this excellent team… their particular care/skills/individual qualities making them shine the most brightly during my stay. Thank you….. Mike, Jenny, Sarah, Courtney, Elena and Lucy. Your care and conversations with me meant much.
And finally a mention, too, for Christine the Senior Nurse. Wow! It’s difficult to put into words the difference and the impact an empathic, compassionate, caring, kind and professional approach can have on you, personally, in the lower/slightly scary moments and at the (very fortunate) positive/joyous moments. I’m not sure I can do justice to describing that impact here, but Christine was beyond caring and exemplified compassion. Her care was she second to none. And her impact on me at my times of real vulnerability will stay with me for a very very very long time.
"The care was second to none"
