The care I received at the Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy was amazing. I had a fairly difficult, long birth that ended in an emergency c-section and although I’m struggling to come to terms with it, the care and experience I had with the staff makes me reflect on it in a more positive light.
From the ladies in the induction suite to all the staff in the theatre, everyone was so caring and I really felt looked after and informed of every step. I struggle with pain and the idea of surgery and they were supportive and held my hand and gave me words of encouragement throughout.
The staff in the observation bay and the labour ward were also fantastic and were a great support to me and baby. There are too many people to thank to name individually but I want everyone to know in the maternity unit what an amazing job they do and how special they are and even though it wasn’t the birth I wanted, I’ll still look back and think about how amazing all the midwives, doctors and nurses were at the Victoria hospital.
Special mention to Leanne community midwife and Lucy student midwife for helping me navigate the first few days pp. I felt supported and listened to and they helped me talk it out and come to terms with what happened.
Once again, thank you to all staff involved in bringing my baby safely in to the world, we are so grateful.
