"Radiotherapy for prostate cancer"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Radiotherapy

(as the patient),

When I was diagnosed with prostate cancer I was understandably a little shocked. It had taken quite a long time to get to that diagnosis. I was referred urgently by my GP surgery in November 2024 and the diagnosis did not come until late march 2025. This did seem a very long time considering the emphasis that is placed on acting quickly when prostate problems are suspected.

I was to be treated with hormone injections and Radiotherapy. The

Radiotherapy treatment spanned to whole of July 2025 and I must say that the staff who administer the therapy are superb and extremely hard working. They made the process as pleasant and professional a it possibly could be and my thanks go out to them. What the future holds for me I will have to wait and see.

As I indicated earlier to be referred urgently in November and finish treatment in August does seem quite a long time but I realise that the hospitals are very busy.

Overall I was pleased with my treatment and the environment in which it was provided and would pass on my thanks to all involved.
