"Radiotherapy for prostate cancer"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Radiotherapy

(as the patient),

When I was diagnosed with prostate cancer I was understandably a little shocked. It had taken quite a long time to get to that diagnosis. I was referred urgently by my GP surgery in November 2024 and the diagnosis did not come until late march 2025. This did seem a very long time considering the emphasis that is placed on acting quickly when prostate problems are suspected.

I was to be treated with hormone injections and Radiotherapy. The

Radiotherapy treatment spanned to whole of July 2025 and I must say that the staff who administer the therapy are superb and extremely hard working. They made the process as pleasant and professional a it possibly could be and my thanks go out to them. What the future holds for me I will have to wait and see.

As I indicated earlier to be referred urgently in November and finish treatment in August does seem quite a long time but I realise that the hospitals are very busy.

Overall I was pleased with my treatment and the environment in which it was provided and would pass on my thanks to all involved.

Dear tigeryg76

Thank you for sharing your patient journey with us. I am sorry that you had to wait to start your treatment and realise that this will have been an anxious time for you.

It is heartening however, to read that when you did start your treatment, you were pleased with it and that you found our team to be professional and our environment appropriate. I will ensure your thanks are shared with the team and I appreciate you contacting us to let us know what you thought of our service and staff.

Thank you again
