"ED Visit and admission"

About: The Ulster Hospital / Emergency Department The Ulster Hospital / Ward 3B

(as a relative),

I brought my husband into ED @UHD. spoke to receptionist who was so helpful,  taken straight through to a triage nurse who then carried out clinical obs.  She suspected a stroke. From this point everything went so fast.  Stroke/lysis call team arrived so fast, bloods ecg and tests done within minutes.

Thankfully it was not a stroke. We were sent through to await a consultation with a stroke consultant.  Waited for about 4 hours  being looked after by nurses who although extremely busy did their jobs so professionally.  Medication was administered to all 8 of the everchanging patients, food was served at lunchtime, reassurance given. I have to say I was actually lost for words at how the ED unit ran. My husband and I have nothing but gratitude and admiration for the nurse who looked after him.

He was then admitted to ward 3B and spent the next few days there. Again so impressed with the running of the ward, the care my husband receive and the over all professionalism of the staff. Staff nurse Wilbert in particular went above and beyond for us.

Well done and thank you to all the staff.

Hi humanitieszy39

Thank you for taking the time to tell us of you and and your husbands experience when attending the Ulster ED. It is good to hear that your experience has been very positive during your time in ED and your husband was cared for quickly, to a high standard and compassionate throughout. It certainly is a fast moving, ever changing department and staff are kept busy keeping up with everything. I will share your very kind comments with the staff who very much appreciate them.

I hope your husband is continuing to improve.

Kind Regards

Jenny
