"Maternity and diabetic services"

About: Bassetlaw Hospital / Diabetic medicine Bassetlaw Hospital / Maternity care Doncaster Royal Infirmary / Maternity care

(as the patient),

Hi, I just wanted to give my feedback for the excellent care I received during and after my pregnancy. I found out I was pregnant in Dec 2024, everything with my booking appointment and scans went smoothly and no issues. I had Stacey for my midwife until she left, and then Hayley who were both so lovely and you can see they have a real passion for the job. The radiographers June and trainee Annabelle at Bassetlaw were 2 ladies I regularly saw and there attention to detail was fantastic I felt reassured at all times and they talked us through everything each time, both were very lovely ladies. I found out at 28 weeks I had gestational diabetes so I spent alot of Tuesdays at the diabetic clinic. I was so nervous at first and wasn’t sure what to expect but each person I saw were great. From the receptionist to the healthcare workers to feeding advice, diabetic consultant and nurses, midwife’s (Claire, Kerry and Rachel) dieticians and the baby doctors. Every single person up there explained everything thorough and offered us so much support. I was given all necessary equipment to monitor my levels and me and baby were closely monitored throughout it all.

I was on the maternity ward at Bassetlaw a few times due to my blood pressure and was so impressed with the level of care here, every midwife, cleaner, health care were fantastic. A special mention to Kaydee (sorry if spelt wrong) in MADU who had a lovely lady who had a student (blonde hair) with her. I suffer with white coat syndrome but these two lovely ladies calmed me, helped in any way they could and reassured me on every visit with any concerns I had.

I then went to DRI maternity ward to have my son and wow, the midwife’s on here were just fantastic. Carrie, Astra, Lauren, Sarah to name a few were just the nicest of people and nothing was ever to much. A big huge thank you to Alyx who came into theatre for my elected c section, I don’t think I could have done it without you, genuinely you have the kindest of hearts and your passion for the job pours out of you so thank you! If I am honest I was petrified of having surgery but believe me when I sat this was a beautiful experience. Me and my husband will never be able to thank the surgical team, the on call doctors, anaesthetists and all the people who support while in theatre for keeping us reassured and bringing our son to the world. I am in awe of how amazing this team really are. My son and I were looked after completely and it was a humbling experience I will never forget. All the consultants, hearing services, paediatricians even down to the cleaners were just all brilliant.

Even at home the community staff Millie, Stef and others whose names I can’t remember have all been fantastic and talk through everything with you at home with us never feeling rushed. The whole experience for me has been brilliant and I feel so lucky to have met such lovely people on my pregnancy journey aswell as witness first hand the excellent care the NHS has given us. Everyone we have met during and after our hospital stays have made my journey so much easier and comfort and me and partner can’t thank you all enough. Our son came into the world near the end of July weighing 10lb 1oz and we cannot take our eyes off him he is just perfect and we owe a lot to all of you guys for getting him here safely in our arms. Thank you again xx

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave your kind feedback. It's fantastic to hear how well looked after you were by all members of staff throughout and after your pregnancy across both sites. I hope you and your little one are doing well!

Kind regards,

Dionne
