"Deep cut to arm"

About: Ninewells Hospital / Plastic Surgery & Burns Perth Royal Infirmary / Accident & Emergency Scottish Ambulance Service / Patient Transport Service St Margaret's Hospital / South Community Treatment & Care (CTAC) team

(as the patient),

I tripped on the curb and landed in the long grass on a broken bottle. I sustained a cut to my arm that was 6 inches long and 3/4 of an inch deep.

I went to Perth Royal Infirmary. They took photos and sent me to Ninewells Hospital Dundee because I needed plastic surgery.

The ambulance crew who took me there were fantastic - all so friendly and professional.

The surgery team at Ninewells were amazing and also the staff when I stayed overnight. Everyone was unbelievably good, all the doctors, and the nurses. The nurses were amazing - always cheered me up - everyone did. Everything was perfect. I couldn't have asked for anything more. The staff had a smile on their faces which promotes happiness.

I recently went to the Wound Changing Department in St Margaret's Hospital, Auchterarder, then went back as well to get my dressings changed. I'll go back soon to get the stitches out. Everything is fine - there's no infection as they used plenty of antibiotics.

I saw Hannah who changed the dressing. She was lovely, very professional and did everything perfectly. I was nervous but she put me at ease and told me not to worry and explained everything and ensured that it didn't hurt. It's a real skill to be able to put people at ease like that.

I feel very strongly about all the staff and the fact that they are so good at their jobs. They have to deal with a huge variety of people, their jobs are extremely hard and they are so professional.
