"Really gave my daughter a voice"

About: The Ulster Hospital / Asthma and Allergy Service

(as a parent/guardian),

My daughter met with Dr Glancy to discuss a possible peanut challenge. My daughter was confused and scared about doing the challenge. Dr Glancy talked her through all aspects of the challenge, the pros and cons and why the medical team would even consider doing it. Her patient skills were so impressive. My daughter instantly reacted to her and I could tell she left the appointment in awe of Dr Glancy. She was caring, empathetic and explained to my 11 year old that it was her choice and really gave her a voice. I was extremely impressed and we are looking forward to the challenge with confidence and high hopes.

Many thanks for your very kind words in relation to your daughter's experience in our Service. We make every effort to ensure that patients and parents are well informed and particularly in children and young people's case, that information is delivered in an age-appropriate format.

I will pass on this lovely compliment to Dr Glancy and share with our team.

We wish you well and hope that you enjoy the rest of the Summer. We look forward to seeing you both again in our Service.

Many thanks

Update posted by SusieR00 (a parent/guardian)

Thank you for your response Barbara and to Dr Doyle and Beverly today. We were delighted the challenge went well and couldn’t have asked for better care from everyone. Once again we were reassured by Dr Doyle and looked after by the nursing team and the play specialist. You really are a fantastic team.
