From the minute I walked in, I felt looked after and at ease. I was understandably quite nervous about the procedure I was having and my hospital overnight stay. I arrived and was taken into a ward bay, the paperwork was completed in a timely manner and the anaesthetist took me to the operating theatres. I lost all track of time, there was no nervous waiting around but felt very looked after and a few laughs on the way.
After surgery the care continued, the nurse who woke me had noticed my tattoo and recognised the logo, sometimes it's the little things that mean a lot, this was a way to get me talking.
I was then taken to ward D7 and introduced to Peter, my nurse, who was very attentive from the minute I arrived into the ward, arranging for a brew and a sandwich. I had another nurse checking my belongings and doing my obs every half an hour and she was brilliant too. Change of staff in the evening, and they were equally as good.
The next day Peter came back on shift, the surgeon came to check on me quite early, the pharmacist delivered my medications, and I was free to go home by 11.30am.
My overall experience was really great, all the staff I encountered in the 28 hours I was there were absolutely amazing and I felt well looked after and my care was their top priority despite all the other patients they were also looking after.
I feel hospitals and the staff get a lot of bad reviews, but in the 7 years I've been being treated at Stepping Hill by the endocrine team and the ENT team my experience has been fantastic.
