I had fantastic midwifery care from the community midwives in Perth and later at Ninewells hospital in Dundee.
Fern was my named midwife and I saw her for every antenatal appointment. I really appreciated the continuity of care. Cat was my student midwife and was with me during most of my labour, and was absolutely fantastic. She made me feel completely safe and listened to during a scary time.
Everything was clearly explained to me before it happened and my consent was always asked for. I laboured for a long time in Perth and eventually had to be transferred to Ninewells hospital as I got stuck at 9cm dilated and needed my waters broken and a hormone drip to keep things going.
The midwives there were also fantastic and I met my baby boy a few hours later. We stayed a couple of days in the postnatal ward as he struggled to latch at first, and the care we received there from our midwife Sasha was also incredible.
There were so many more midwives involved in my care throughout and I wish I could name them all, but I felt so supported by everyone in the most vulnerable time of my life and I will never forget how great my care was and how it has set me up for motherhood.
