"Cardiac arrest and CPR"

About: Cardiology / Coronary Care Unit Cardiology / Ward 1 - Cardiology

(as a service user),

I was admitted with chest pains a had to undergo angioplasty to resolve blockages, successfully. I was moved to CCU after that. My memory is a bit vague after that but know I was being well looked after. The first real memory I had was opening my eyes to see many faces of staff. I was told I had a couple of Cardiac Arrests and CPR applied. The realisation of the CPR began to hit with pain from my chest I had in fact a few fractured ribs, but coming to terms with this I wouldn't have survived otherwise.

I had pain killer to help but through the effects that it brought I knew I was being well looked after and cared for. I spent about a week on the ward and nothing was to much for any of the staff.

I was then fitted with a defibrillator  and later in the discharged. My care continues with the CCU and I have a local Cardiac nurse both of whom I see next week.

My experience has given me a different outlook on life, certainly has. My ribs are on the mend nearly 3 months after the event. My main ambition now is to get money out of insurance company for the holiday we had to cancel, not holding my breath they are throwing curve balls

Once again I cannot thank all(!) the staff for my life
