"Care for my daughter"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Accident & Emergency Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Gynaecology (Ward 49)

(as a parent/guardian),

We were advised by NHS24 to head to A&E. We arrived at 7.35pm, place was busy but working well. It was well sign posted on how long we could wait to see a doctor, My daughter was triaged and given pain relief pretty quickly, she was then taken for bloods. We were more than aware of more serious conditions entering, as well as the pre alert ambulance calls.

My girl was then moved to GYN wd49, seen very quickly and prescribed anti biotics and advised to return to department the next day.

Colin the porter was great.

We was home for 2.15am.

All staff we encountered were amazing, attentive they knew their stuff.

As an NHS employee,  it feels weird to be on the other side, but I understand the pressures we feel at times. Every single one of you thank you so much, when your child is no longer a child & has to attend adult hospital its a scary experience for both of us. We both felt completely at ease, she felt cared for, and felt she was understood.

Thanks Team

Dear papagf56.

Thank you so much for sharing such thoughtful feedback about your recent experience with our service. It’s clear that this was a worrying time for both you and your daughter, and I’m so pleased to hear that she was cared for with kindness, professionalism, and expertise throughout.

Your recognition of the whole team—from A&E through to Gynaecology Ward 49—is greatly appreciated, and I will ensure your comments are shared with the staff involved, including Colin the porter, who I know will be delighted to be mentioned.

As an NHS colleague, your words carry particular meaning. We know how challenging it can feel being on the “other side,” and I’m really glad that you both felt at ease and well supported during your time with us.

Thank you again for taking the time to share your story. We wish your daughter a full and speedy recovery.

Warm regards,

Nikki

Dear papagf56,

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your kind and thoughtful feedback following your recent visit to our Emergency Department. We’re truly grateful to hear that, despite the busy environment, you and your daughter felt cared for, understood, and at ease throughout the experience.

I am delighted that our signage, triage process, and communication helped and provided reassurance. I am pleased that your daughter received timely pain relief and care, and that her transition to Ward 49 was smooth and supportive.

I will pass on your lovely comments to Colin the porter and all the staff involved in your daughter’s care—they’ll be delighted to know their efforts made a difference.

To receive such lovely feedback from someone who works in the NHS is even more appreciated. Your recognition of the pressures we face, and your appreciation of our work, means a great deal to us all.

Wishing your daughter a swift and full recovery. Thank you again for your lovely feedback, it reminds us why we continue to do what we do. Thank you.

Warm regards,

Karen
