I broke my ankle two days ago. At the A&E I was put in a "walking boot" and referred to a fracture clinic. I was told by the person they said was a doctor (whom I layer found out was an advanced nurse practitioner) that the hospital was unable to given me any medication for my pain other than co-codomol, that I should follow-up with my GP. Next morning, I call my GP, who says they can't prescribe anything because I'm still under the care of the hospital that sent me home. The fracture clinic called and told me I'd need to come in for more x-rays. I asked about pain relief. They said that my GP needed to handle that. I contact my GP again this morning and am told to get co-codomol from a pharmacy. I've responded that I had done that (well, my partner had, I can't stand or walk).
I've finally received a message from the GP offering to prescribe stronger co-codomol. Hopefully I can get this sorted today, but I'm at a complete loss as to why the hospital couldn't give me anything to take home to treat the pain.
