My latest coil fitting with Denise was extremely positive. I felt valued because she showed empathy and offered me local anaesthetic to prevent the procedure being painful. She was extremely supportive and understanding.

Denise needs to be praised and acknowledged for her skill and commitment to helping women feel protected from pain and trauma while having these procedures done.

In contrast, my previous coil fitting at Stafford conducted by another person was awful as it was the most painful experience of my life so far (to the point of being traumatic) and left me with ongoing pain and bleeding for weeks, most likely because they didn't fit it correctly. My body then rejected the coil several months after the fitting.

Denise needs recognition for her professionalism, and other clinicians fitting coils should offer local anaesthetic as standard and have regular assessments to ensure they understand how to fit coils correctly.
