My dad had become quite unwell to the point in the last 4 months or so had become housebound and myself and my family were struggling to look after him and care for him.
I made contact with Fife council social workers team to see about getting some home care help for my dad due to his long term health deteriorating as he’s in his 70’s now and was struggling. In the beginning it took a bit of back and fourth to try to get him onto the older adults team for homecare but within a couple of months we had been allocated a social worker for my dad.
Our social worker Sophia has been a godsend for my dad and the family, she’s lovely, warm and welcoming. She was always in contact with us giving us updates on what she was doing in terms of writing a report about my dad for consideration to get a home care package put in place. She contacted other services such as OT, distrust nurses for us and her help throughout has been amazing! She would also email and check in to see how my dad and us as a family were doing and to keep her updated on any changes with my dad.
Sophia is an amazing asset to the social work team for older people in Fife and you need more people like her. We honestly feel as a family that we couldn’t have gotten through these last months if she wasn’t there helping us and supporting us.
I know my dad and us as a family will forever be grateful for all the support and help she gave my dad as my dad now has a home care package in place which has taken a lot of stress of us as a family as well as seeing my dad more settled and back to his old self as much as he can be.
So thank you again Sophia x
