"Care at the hospital"

About: Northern General Hospital / Accident and emergency Northern General Hospital / General surgery Northern General Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as the patient),

Yes I had a long wait in A&E in February at Northern General when my severe case of Cellulitis wasn’t responding to Antibiotics

A 9 hour wait on a Sunday as only 1 overworked Doctor on, finally I was admitted overnight then 11 daily visits to OPAT ward for intravenous antibiotics, I can’t praise the OPAT team highly enough they were absolutely marvellous.

Having recovered I went on to have my long awaited Glenoid & Reverse shoulder replacement in April, wonderful Surgeon and anaesthetic team and caring staff in the ward. Now going weekly for Hydrotherapy and before that Physio at Therapy Services.

My BIG complaint is lack of parking and I can’t see away round that. Overall for my care it’s 10 out of 10 from me.

Thank you so much for taking the time to share your feedback about your experiences of care by our various hospital teams. We are really pleased to read that, although you experiences a long wait in A&E when you first needed to seek care, you received fantastic care from the team on OPAT. We are also please to hear that you received the surgical procedure you had been awaiting, and felt well cared for throughout the procedure and recovery on the ward. We hope that your physio and hydrotherapy are going well to support your long-term recovery.

We are sorry for the difficulties you have experienced with parking. It can be difficult and we do provide information and advice about parking on our appointment letters, to help support planning an attendance, but appreciate that it can be really challenging at times, and our transport team do review our parking to look at ways to improve this, but there are constraints we are working within, making it a challenge to identify opportunities to increase capacity.

Thank you again for sharing such lovely comments, we are so pleased to read that you feel that you have received high-quality care and we really appreciate your feedback.

We would like to take this opportunity to wish you all the best with any ongoing care or treatment.
