I recently had to present to A&E for ongoing pain in my hip. On arrival I could barely walk and there was no empathy from reception staff which is a shame as they are the first faces you see on arrival.
I checked in and only waited 5 mins before I was called to be triaged. My pain was excruciating and I was met with a nurse called Karyn who was absolutely amazing. There was also a CSW Caitlin who was so good and got me a trolly to rest on because of my pain. Karyn got me oromorph very quickly as she could see the pain I was suffering.
During my stay within A&E I was treated promptly despite the place being absolutely ridiculously busy. I can’t remember the name of the SHO who looked after me but he was so thorough in his assessment to me.
I had to get an x-ray and the porter who escorted me to x-ray was so lovely and cheerful, again I don’t know his name.
The girls in x-ray were so lovely and supportive. I was diagnosed with severe arthritis with mushy bones and the SHO was very sympathetic to the diagnosis as it came a shock to me.
I just want to thank the individuals that looked after me and my partner, and despite how busy the place was they delivered individualised care to myself and I am forever grateful.
The physio nurse Fiona, thank you for taking the time to discuss options with me. I work for NHS and appreciate the demands of everyday work life.
Thank you so much for the care I received. I also want to say thank you to Sam (nurse) for being so attentive and supportive… you are all angels.
