"Lateral hip pain course"

About: Salford Royal / Trauma and orthopaedics Walkden Medical Centre

(as a service user),

I was very happy to be invited on this course and optimistic it was going to help with the pain and help me start to recover.

Unfortunately it was 20 minutes of following stretching instructions from sheets of paper on the floor, 4 sessions over the course of a few months.

Some stretches were too painful for me and a couple were very easy things I already have to do a lot like sitting/standing, and climbing a stair.

It was hard to get any guidance on doing the stretches right within the 2 minutes per stretch in front of strangers.

On the last session it was far too hot inside and too many people.

At the end of my last session the instructor came over and told me he was discharging me, without asking first if it had been helpful, who I was or what condition I suffer from.

I can't see how this little is supposed to help anyone - I do more than this myself at home and its not working which is why I asked for help.

I went to this on the understanding that afterwards there might be other treatment options but there apparently aren't, and I have been discharged from physiotherapy.
