"Poor service in bloods"

About: Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital (Wonford) / Blood Tests (Phlebotomy)

(as the patient),

You have a poster clearly stating no cut-ins. But yet you allow someone who was capable of grabbing a ticket but didn't because they knew if they complained about waiting they'll be getting to cut in. I was standing for more then 30mins to get bloods done and was required to get back to work! Age and disability shouldn't allow you to cut any hospital line unless it's life treating!

Minimal seating available as well

Hi,

Thank you for your feedback, and apologies that you have had a poor experience. I will raise the issue of cut ins directly with the Phlebotomy service and see what solutions we can come up with.

Due to changes to how blood tests are delivered in Primary Care, our hospital services have become busier in recent months, and we acknowledge that the provision for phlebotomy in our General Outpatients department is not as good as it should be to meet the demands on the service. We have been trying to change how and where we deliver blood tests in Outpatients, and I will take this feedback as further demonstration of why we need to change.

Best wishes,

Tom Roberts

Head of Outpatients, Eastern Services
