I had bloods taken in the morning by my GP service. In the afternoon I received a phone call to say my haemoglobin was extremely low and to attend A&E as they may want to give me a blood transfusion.
I presented myself to A&E and was triaged quickly (which I thought was amazing considering how busy they were). Unfortunately I had to sit for a long time until I saw a doctor but I didn't mind as they had taken more bloods to check my levels and that needed processed.
The majority of staff I encountered were amazing and the doctor did his best to get me sorted but due to the extreme pressure the whole hospital was under I can only presume there was nowhere for me to go to receive my blood transfusion.
Although I didn't receive the blood transfusion I cannot praise the staff I encountered enough. They work under extreme pressure with a relentless amount of patients presenting themselves to A&E. Yet they still managed to show empathy, concern and patience.
