This has being going on for a number of months. We were initially told that this acute facility was closing, then it would run alongside the proposed Recovery College. 10 days ago we were told it was closing on the 31st March with the the Recovery College up and running on the 1 st April. Yesterday I was informed this is not until June and the ward will remain open although with only 1 member of staff, who although experienced in this field is not trained.
This is having an adverse effect on my mental health as I feel that, if they can close this whilst I have letters saying it will remain open, what other support will be removed from me? Furthermore other facilities have been removed at the PHC with senior managers telling service users different reasons. We do talk and support each other and much of this is in writing.
I will add that I do think the Recovery College could be a valuable asset if run and funded correctly but it meets a different client group to the current day ward.
