"I just want someone to listen and help me"

About: University Hospital Wishaw / Gynaecology (Ward 13) University Hospital Wishaw / Womens Health Unit

(as the patient),

I saw the gynaecologist a year ago and they sent me to get a scan and then never heard anything. I then went to see my thyroid doctor and they asked me if I knew I had a polyp in my womb. I said no and they asked I I wanted it removed. I said 100 percent yes.

I then got a phone call to go get a hysteroscopy and then went to get that and there was fluid in my womb and polyp and biopsies done ,then waited weeks and called to see if my results were back for 7 weeks and kept saying nothing back etc, I was this is a joke.

Then the week later they were back, the gynaecologist called me says as you keep calling, you have pre-cancerous and you need a hysterectomy. I had it 2 weeks ago and haven’t heard anything about results. I’ve asked to change consultant as I’m sick of been left.

I feel let down by the doctor. I  didn’t even get told I was getting a follow up or nothing. I just want someone to listen and help me.

Thank you for taking the time to contact and share your experience and detail the issues you have experienced in gynaecology. I am sorry to read that you feel let down and no one is listening to you.

This is clearly a very difficult situation and in order to fully review and provide the information that you are looking for, I would ask you to get in touch.

Unfortunately as care opinion is anonymised I am unable to contact your directly. I wonder if you would contact patient affairs to provide more details so that we can fully explore the concerns that you have raised.

Please can you email PatientAffairs.Wishaw@lanarkshire,scot.nhs.uk

Regards
