On entering ED is was apparent that the department was extremely busy. Receptionist kindly asked if we were ok. My husband was unable to speak due to the severity of the allergic reaction. We were sent straight through to treatment area, (another receptionist swiped the door open).
Seen immediately by a doctor I approached. My husband was taken into triage and administered adrenaline. He was then taken straight to resus. The care that was provided through the night was second to none. The kind actions of the medics (Claire and Callum) and the nurses on duty (Rachel, Kathy and Michael) were amazing. they kept us informed of all treatment.
As a nurse myself it was great to see how the team worked together for the best possible outcome.
