"My best experience to date as a patient"

About: Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital (Wonford) / Breast care and breast surgery

(as the patient),

Having found a breast lump, my GP referred me through the urgent assessment pathway to the breast team at the RD&E Hospital.

I received a call from the appointment team the same day I saw my GP and was able to schedule an appointment around my work commitments which was very much appreciated.

The entire process of attending the appointment was faultless. Everyone who I spoke with that day, from the receptionists, the nursing staff, radiographers, consultants, and the porters who gave me directions, made the whole experience much better than I anticipated. The staff were so pleasant and friendly, provided helpful explanations and treated me with such compassion and kindness.

Having worked in healthcare myself for over 30 years, this is a great example of how to deliver outpatient services and has been my best experience to date as a patient. I also received my clinic letter 2 working days after being seen which was amazing.
