"Pain management....... Again"

About: Chesterfield Royal Hospital / Accident and emergency Chesterfield Royal Hospital / Pain Management

(as the patient),

I had a review booked with Pain Management, however when the clinic called I was unable to speak to the nurse as ,as I explained to them, I was sitting at my sister's bedside who was on end of life care and in the last couple of days of her life .

So I asked for the appointment to be rebooked. I have received my new appointment... for January 2026!

So now I'm not only dealing with the fact that my sister has died, I'm also dealing with severe pain still. I feel as though I have been penalised for being at my dying sister's bedside. I'm disgusted by them yet again. And this is the second time that they have done this to me!

This is after I had been admitted to CRH for 4 days the week previously with severe back pain.  The consultants  in the ED there were disgusted that I had not even had an MRI scan since 2016 and no effort had been made to order one. They were absolutely amazing and would not let me leave until we had a treatment plan in place and my pain was under some kind of interim management.

I had major spinal surgery 12 years ago and this has not been taken into account either by pain management.  I sincerely hope that when I see the spinal surgeon I will get some proper care and treatment instead of the way I have been treated by pain management at CRH .
