"Always supportive and encouraging"

About: Borders General Hospital / Maternity care

(as a service user),

This was my third pregnancy and birth. For all three all of my pregnancies Fiona was my main community midwife. She was brilliant and supportive for all three. Each pregnancy I went beyond my due date and her compassion and kindness meant a great deal at each of the appointments beyond 40' weeks.

I had a very positive experience in labour ward, arriving and having my baby boy within an hour and I can't think the midwives who delivered him enough. The same for ward 16, although it was busy all the staff couldn't have been nicer and more helpful.

When I went home, Fiona and Pam did most of the home visits. Pam had been involved in my care during my second pregnancy it was great to have the consistency and familiar faces. Both were always supportive and encouraging during their visits. I feel very lucky and appreciative of the great care from all the maternity team throughout my pregnancies. Thank you!

Thank you so much for sharing your story, Astra1707. It’s heartening to hear about the consistent, compassionate care you received throughout all three of your pregnancies. Fiona and Pam are truly dedicated midwives, and it’s wonderful that you had familiar, supportive faces throughout your journey. Your positive experience on the labour ward and in ward 16, even during busy times, is a testament to the professionalism and kindness of the entire maternity team. Stories like yours really highlight the impact of continuity of care and genuine compassion in maternity services. Wishing you and your family all the best!
