I had an operation on my shoulder, under general anaesthetic at Altnagelvin Area Hospital on a Friday mid July 2025, in the day case unit. All of the staff without exception were outstanding and compassionate. I cannot praise them enough.

I would particularly like to thank the two lovely nurses who recognised I was afraid on the operating table; one soothed me and the other held my hand. Thank you so very much, it meant a great deal to me and helped me to relax. I am deeply grateful and would appreciate it if the wonderful surgeon, anaesthetists, physiotherapist and nurses were acknowledged for their care, skill and concern.

Coordinate the smooth running of orthopaedic surgical lists in a busy Day case Unit delegating staff to ensure the care given to patients is of the highest possible standards.

Hi Carew58, first of all I wish you a very speedy recovery after your surgery. I am very pleased to hear that you had a very positive experience in your perioperative journey in the Day Case Unit here in Altnagelvin. Our staff are very experienced in their roles and are very compassionate towards the patients they care for. I thank you kindly for taking the time to post a truly lovely feedback for all the staff involved and will ensure this is shared with them as it is so important for staff to feel valued in their ever changing roles. We as a Day Case Team wish you well and hope you have a speedy recovery.
