"Emergency dental treatment"

About: NHS 24 / Scottish Emergency Dental Service University Hospital Wishaw / Dental

(as the patient),

I had to contact NHS 24 following an extraction I had at my GDP. I have been in pain, nae, agony since the local anaesthetic wore off, with sleepless nights. I called 111 early in the morning.

I was triaged & told a dental nurse would contact me with further instructions . The call handler was efficient but kind.

The dental nurse who called me was polite , patient & kind . Listened intently & told me I would receive a call from my health board, NHS Lanarkshire .

I very quickly received a call giving me an appointment for dental unit at Wishaw hospital.

I was greeted by two friendly members of staff at desk - 1 a dental nurse & I think the other was a receptionist .

I was seen quite quickly by Dentist Mohammed & Dental nurse Gillian .

Both were friendly yet professional . They listened to me jibber on with patience . Dealt  with my dry socket & prescribed antibiotics .

Thank you General emergency Dental Service Lanarkshire

Dear LouK23,

Thank you for sharing your story on Care Opinion.

I note there are a few services tagged to your story, I reply on behalf of NHS 24.

I was sorry to learn you had cause to contact 111 due to your dental issues. This sounds very painful and I hope you are now feeling much better after treatment.

It is wonderful that you found the Call Handler efficient and kind and that the Dental Nurse who called you back was so polite, patient and kind. I’m glad to hear you felt listened to.

If you wish to share some further information with me, including your Care Opinion username, I can locate the NHS 24 staff you spoke with and share your Care Opinion story with them. We always like to ensure that staff see positive feedback to reinforce for them how valued their care is when people call our services.

You can contact me by email at Patient.Experience@nhs24.scot.nhs.uk.

Thank you again for your kind words.

Best wishes,

Stephanie
