Last year, mum was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease and started having memory issues, which included difficulty remembering things. We asked the Parkinson's nurse if these memory issues could be related to the Parkinson's diagnosis, or something else, and she referred us to the memory clinic.
The nurse at the clinic was excellent. He spent three hours with us, and his gentle approach made us feel at ease. We even hugged him on the way out. It was a good experience overall. He couldn't have been more helpful and recommended a head scan, which she had in June.
Subsequently, we received a letter stating that she was a candidate for a cognitive group. However, this was a mistake because a formal diagnosis had not yet been made. After contacting them to clarify that we now had a diagnosis, we were informed that she could attend the sessions, but we still haven't received a complete official diagnosis. They mentioned someone would be in touch to provide that information, which is still pending.
Throughout this journey, everyone we have encountered has been incredibly supportive. I have also asked if I could have the scan explained more thoroughly, and I have contacted the nurse to find out more information.
