"Terrible sciatic pain"

About: Three Towns Resource Centre / Physiotherapy

(as the patient),

About 3 months ago I had a sudden pain in my lower back and down the back of my thigh. I went to my GP and was prescribed painkillers. These were comparatively weak because strong painkillers interact with my normal medication. The pain  continued to trouble me and I had to use walking aids around the house to allow me to get around.

My GP then referred me to NHs Ayrshire and Arran Physiotherapy department .

I had 3 appointments at the Saltcoats branch of the Physiotherapy department where I was seen and treated by Katherine. She listened to my account of the symptoms , gave me various tests to determine the nature and extent of the problem.

I then was given various exercises to do at home over several weeks . These were successful from the very start and after the  three visits my pain had gone,

I continue to do the exercises and the pain has never returned.

I cannot emphasise enough how efficient and knowledgeable Katherine was in delivering my treatment in such a sympathetic way and  endorse the super service which I  ewas given.

Dear bravowg98

Thank you so much for taking the time to share feedback on your healthcare experience.

I am sorry to hear that you were troubled by back pain which was not improved by painkillers. It is, however, heartening to hear that the Katherine from the Physiotherapy Team at Three Towns Resource Centre was able to listen to you, assess your symptoms and provide you with some suitable exercises that seem to have improved this for you. This is a lovely example of the person centred care that we strive to deliver.

Our staff really appreciate receiving feedback from their patients and it will be my pleasure to ensure your lovely comments are shared with the Physiotherapy Team and with Katherine in particular. I know they will be delighted to receive this and it will be really encouraging for them to know that you felt so well supported by them.

Please accept my best wishes and thank you once again for taking the time to acknowledge your care experience.
