"Amazing birth and post natal care"

About: The Princess Royal Maternity Unit / Community Midwifery The Princess Royal Maternity Unit / Maternity care (wards 68, 72 &73)

(as a service user),

I recently gave birth in the Princess Royal Maternity unit, all midwives and other staff made me feel incredibly comfortable and well looked after.

My midwife Cara and student midwife Fiona were so supportive and knew exactly what I needed at each point of labour. Massive congratulations to Fiona who got her 40th birth with my little one. She will make an amazing fully qualified midwife. There was also another midwife who came in during the pushing stage who was also incredible, but unfortunately I didn’t get her name.

After birth I was then moved onto the postnatal ward and over my 3 day stay in hospital every single member of staff I met/dealt with was so kind and supportive. From breastfeeding advice, to how to change a nappy for the first time.

After being discharged we had the community midwife team come out, I seen a few different midwives during this time who were all lovely, but the one I seen the most was Lauren, who was an incredible support to me. She really cared about my mental health and I felt all the advice and support she provided during her visits made the first week to 10 days of parenthood a lot easier. She had lots of hints and tips for all kinds of postpartum issues, many we have been using since.

Overall my care during pregnancy, birth and after birth has been incredible. Thank you to everyone involved!
