"Medical test and nhs medical notes"

About: Petersfield Hospital

(as a service user),

I was booked in for a scan of my womb after hrt, specifically progesterone, had been missed ( I had never been told that this was dangerous or of course would not have taken oestrogen alone)

In the meantime I was put back on full hrt with progesterone whilst I waited for scan

The scan was taken at Petersfield hospital

When I arrived I was shown to a small room with two younger women. I was not told why there were two or who the women were

I was asked to take my bottom half of my clothes off and lay at the end of the bed with my feet on a chair

This was very embarrassing and not like anything i've experienced before (i've had one of these scans previously)

Clearly other equipment could have been used, not makeshift, for what is one of the most intimate medical procedures

Also I had the great embarrassment of having two women watching me as I put my underwear and clothes back on, not even a screen

On top of this I then checked my nhs app to see that notes are not indicative of what actually happened meaning that I might not have needed the scan in the first place

We’re sorry your scan felt uncomfortable and that the explanations and privacy weren’t clear. We’ve shared this with the service so we can improve how we set up the room and communicate each step of the procedure.
