"Poor observations"

About: The Ulster Hospital / Respiratory Hub

(as a service user),

I attended the respiratory hub recently. I only phoned in the morning but managed to get an appointment in the afternoon which is a very good service.

My issue comes with the observations that were taken and appeared on my care. My temperature was recorded when no thermometer was anywhere near me. In addition they recorded my respiratory rate of 17 which is amazing seeing as how they didn't seem count my breathing as they put the BP cuff on, immediately turned around, and put the number into Epic without even looking at me. I went in with breathing problems and my baseline is above 20 bpm so it's miraculous that all of a sudden when I'm unwell it's within normal range, I wonder how this can be explained?

Thank you for your care opinion, and I can only apologise for your unsatisfactory appointment here.

I will forward your comments to all the staff in the Respiratory Hub, as we are unable to identify the staff member mentioned, and these issues will be discussed and reflected on.

We use a temporal thermometer, which you might not have been aware of when the staff member was recording your temperature, as it doesn't involve any contact with you.

Once again I apologise for your experience.

Thank you,

Jill
