I attended Wishaw A&E (evening in July 2025) with my daughter who was having a post tonsillectomy bleed. I called ahead of us arriving to let the team know as I know ENT are based over in monklands. When we arrived the team triaged her swiftly and within minutes she was in resus being treated. The staff were absolutely phenomenal, worked seamlessly in a team. The were calm, efficient and communicated every single thing they were doing. Things escalated quickly and there was a large team around her who were all amazing but we would like to give a special mention to Dr Roche who was a fantastic leader who is just amazing at her job. Jack was a staff nurse with incredible cannulation skills - he managed to slide 2 in and obtain bloods within seconds and the lovely student Sophie who was amazing too. There was a unit-coordinator / charge nurse who was present and we’re sorry that we don’t remember her name but she was outstanding- cooled my daughter down, reassured her and calmed her all whilst holding her hand. If you can find out who this was and send our thanks we would really appreciate it (she and Dr Roche have a mutual high fear/ suspicious of tonsillectomy bleeding if this helps!). Honestly, what a fantastic team who helped stabilise my daughter and prevented a return to theatre. She is now home after 2 days in ENT and hopefully continues to recover well! Again, sorry we don’t have all names of everyone invoked but a huge Thank you!!!
