"Trauma informed birth planning"

About: Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh at Little France / Maternity Care Services

(as a service user),

After a fairly traumatic first labour and birth, which resulted in an emergency c section, I felt very nervous about the impending birth of my second child. We were referred to the trauma informed birth planning team who have been wonderful. We first met with a psychologist and then a specialist midwife who has supported us to create a plan that works for us.

I havent yet given birth, but I feel confident that staff will understand my previous experience, respect my wishes and that it will go much better this time. Special thanks to Mhairi who has been a wonderful support through this process.

Dear HBroon,

Thank you for sharing your feedback with us regarding Maternity Care at Royal Infirmary Edinburgh. We appreciate you taking the time, particularly when planning for the arrival of your new baby.

I was so pleased to read that the trauma informed birth team were able to support you and provide a plan for your second delivery. This must be a difficult time for you but I hope that they have lifted some of your worries and helped you feel prepared for your second baby’s arrival.

I have shared this with the team and I am sure they, and Mhairi, will be delighted to read of your positive experience with them.

Best wishes for you and your family,

Claire
